GIGABYTE brings Instant 6GHz to its Z690 motherboards for easy overclocking

GIGABYTEone of the leading companies in high performance hardware and components and for gaminghas brought his tool Instant 6GHz to the Z690 platform after releasing it on Z790 motherboards. In other words, the company has brought it to the top-of-the-line boards that were created for Intel’s Alder Lake generation of processors at the time, which, at least initially, are compatible with Raptor Lake thanks to the fact that both generations use the same socket.

Instant 6GHz is a technology designed by GIGABYTE to better squeeze Intel Core i9-13900K and Core i7-13700K processors that work together with a Z790 or Z690 chipset implemented on a branded motherboard. Once activated through the BIOS setup, it allows increase performance by up to 3% on each core running at 6GHz on Raptor Lakewhich is not an impressive gain, but it is a small addition especially for people who do not have knowledge on how to do overclock in a safe way.

Instant 6GHz ensures that the system can automatically adjust the processor voltage and voltage load line calibration of the cores (Vcore) to detect optimized cores running at a frequency of 6GHz. Thanks to its capabilities, it prevents the user from having to deal with complex configurations to make use of overclocksomething that comes to pose a risk to the integrity of the computer if it is not clear what it is doing.

As with GIGABYTE motherboards with the Z790 chipset, the use of Instant 6GHz on the brand’s Z690 motherboards requires updating the BIOS/UEFI, which can be done by first downloading the latest firmware and then using the Q-Flash or Q-Flash Plus tool. If you are using a Raptor Lake processor on a motherboard made at the time for Alder Lake (H610, B660, H670 and Z690), it is probably advisable to carry out a firmware update process to ensure correct operation.
