A new wave of dangerous apps has just disappeared from the Play Store to protect Android users. A total of 36 malware-infected apps have been banned by Google. However, McAfee researchers estimate the number of potential risks on the store to be around sixty.
It’s not uncommon to see apps infected with malware reach one million downloads on the Play Store. It sometimes takes time for researchers to detect the threats they pose, and then for Google to remove them from its online store. Today, therefore, a new wave of dangerous applications has undergone this treatment.
Spotted by McAfee researchers, these applications indeed contain malware which, once installed, is able to search the history of WiFi networks, the list of connected Bluetooth devices, to draw up the list of applications used and even to track the geolocation of his victim. Moreover, the malware automatically clicks on fraudulent advertisements, which allows hackers to generate money – but also slows down the device it is installed on.

Google has therefore indicated that 36 of these infected applications have been removed from its Play Store. Nevertheless, the threat remains. Indeed, McAfee identifies a total of sixty applications infected with this malware, which accumulate between them 100 million downloads. Moreover, many users still have these applications installed on their smartphones. Here is the complete list of those affected:

As you can see, the vast majority of these apps are aimed primarily at Korean users. Even so, you may have one of them on your smartphone. If this is the case, uninstall it immediately, at the risk of seeing your personal data fly away in nature.
