These accounts were offered free to users who did not want to pay for extra services, but were already paying for their custom domain. Over time, in 2016, Google stopped offering this possibility, but for those who already had this type of G Suite account, it did continue to offer the service without additional charges. But it’s not going to do that anymore: Google has confirmed that its free G Suite accounts will stop working if its users don’t switch to its paid subscription service. All free G Suite accounts will need to be converted to paid Google Workspace subscriptions.
This measure will take effect on May 1, 2022, the day on which all old free G Suite accounts will have to be updated and have been converted to paid Google Workspace subscriptions, although they will not begin to be billed until at least , on July 1, 2022. If the subscription has not been changed by May 1, 2022, Google will do so automatically, without interruption of service or loss of data. Of course, those who do not want to lose data or their account will have to communicate their billing information to Google before July 1, 2022. Only then will Google begin to bill for the accounts that have changed to a subscription automatically.
Those who do not want to pay will be able to export their data to other services with the data export tool offered by the company. Because if you opt out of a paid Google Workspace subscription after July 1 or communicate your bank details so that Google charges you monthly for each user who uses your G Suite account, your account will no longer have some of its features available. will be suspended, which implies that its users will no longer be able to use some of its functions, although they will be able to access the account.
