Google will improve the search in Gmail and Chat with three new features

Not another thing, but if there is something that Google understands, it is search and although it is applied reliably in practically all its products and services, there is always room for improvement. Thus, the Internet giant has announced that it will implement innovations in this regard in the mobile applications of Gmail and Google ChatMainly, but not only.

According to the Google Workspace blog, the company has been working to expand search functionality, especially in the Gmail and Google Chat mobile applications, which, unlike their web versions, tend to be more concise in terms of customizations for Advanced users.

Specifically, the novelties include:

  • search suggestions: Google Chat search query suggestions based on your search history will appear as you type in the search bar. This will help you quickly remember important messages, files, and more on mobile devices.
  • Gmail Labels– You can now search for messages under a specific Gmail label to return results only within that label. You can also use search chips in the Gmail search bar to refine your tag searches.
  • Related Results: For Gmail search queries that return no results, related results will be shown to improve the overall search experience.

The last change, that of the related results, refers to Gmail in its desktop version (web application) apparently and is perhaps the most interesting of all, since it is the only one that is a novelty as such and also has a functionality less seen as it is semantic search. The image well illustrates the potential of this feature.

These Google Workspace news were presented a few days ago during the celebration of the Cloud Next 2022 event and they were not the only ones, so in the coming days and weeks others will be known for these and other applications, products and services of the Mountain View company.
