GPT Workspace integrates ChatGPT into Google Workspace

Both Google and Microsoft have already announced, a few weeks ago, the integration of their artificial intelligence developments into their productivity solutions, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. However, both companies have taken their deployment very calmly. We may experience some change in this regard in the coming months but, in the current situation, it seems highly unlikely that such services will start reaching all users before 2024 or, at the earliest, the end of this 2023.

I hope I am wrong and that, finally, it is not necessary to wait so long, since of all the AI integrations that have been proposed in recent months, without a doubt this one It seems to me that it is one of the most interesting, by scope and potential. Because? Because thanks to this function, a huge number of users will be able to really start to take advantage of the enormous potential of this type of applications and services. I cannot even imagine, to give just one example (probably the most obvious, I know), the increase that this new function can cause in the use of spreadsheets, feared today by many users due to how complex they can become. to result in their formulas.

Thus, while Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 advance at their own pace in the implementation of these functions, developers, entrepreneurs and companies They have seen a very interesting window of opportunity, since the necessary technology already exists, and they have the opportunity to get ahead of “the older ones”, providing those functions right now. In this regard, a few months ago we told you how to integrate ChatGPT into Google Sheets to create lists and glossaries at a prompt, and that is just one of the many options currently available.

In this sense, I usually try to stay up to date with news, and today I have come across a very interesting one, at least a priori, and with a greater scope. I speak of GPT Workspace, a service that integrates ChatGPT into Google Workspace apps In this way, we can solve in seconds some tasks that would otherwise take us a long time, from writing texts or choosing phrases for a presentation to, of course, generating lists, which is one of the most common and feared activities by many. .

GPT Workspace integrates ChatGPT into Google Workspace

It is a subscription service, although offers a basic level that is free, although it is limited to 10 data requests to ChatGPT, so unless our needs are very, very low, it will only serve us to test its operation. To be able to use it without limits, it will be necessary to go through the checkout, and in this case the service has a cost of 19 euros per month if we opt for monthly payments, which are reduced to 9 per month if we opt for the annual payment, that is, one of 108 euros for twelve months of unlimited use.

Its installation is very simple. From their web page you will only have to click on the “Start” button shown on the top page, then follow the instructions to install and activate the extension and, when you start working on a document with Google Workspace, activate the service for the same. Regarding privacy, the company states the following:

«Designed to respect your privacy. GPT Workspace does not have access to your data or your Google Drive files.

By design, your data always remains on Google’s servers. Here is all the information we need to get GPT Workspace working:

Your email address to identify your account
If you are a paying customer, your name to identify the payment
Metadata (number of indications, date of submission, name of the document)
GPT Workspace complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (RGPD).»

A good starting point, without a doubt, which has led me to try it and recommend it… although, as always in these cases, with due reservations. Thus, what I advise you, if you are interested, is that you start with the free trial and that you use it with general data, not with personal, private or secret data. However, the company already offers other services that integrate with Google’s and, so far at least, its track record seems to be spotless, which is certainly reassuring.
