It is often said that our devices travel more than us, if only during their construction process which can take place in several countries until they arrive in our nearest store. But today’s story elevates this concept to a whole new level. It all started on May 6, when a user named Rugby posted a question on The Australian Frequent Flyer forum. He asks for the telephone number of Quantas, the first airline in Australia.

A few days earlier, Rugby had indeed realized that his company had forgotten his iPhone on the plane. Unfortunately, his search is fruitless, and when he finally manages to contact the airline, he gets no help. The user then resolves to use the Locate application to find the trace of the famous iPhone. He then realizes that the latter is still on board the plane and that, therefore, he still travels thousands of kilometers in the air.

His iPhone travels more than him

Luckily for Rugby, this iPhone didn’t fall out of the cabin and land 3,000 meters below. On the other hand, he was able to see the country at a lower cost. Thus, the user was able to follow his position going from Sidney to Auckland, then heading towards Honolulu before returning to Australia. He then returned to Auckland for a quick round trip. All the while, Rugby was only able to view events through the Find My app.

During this third trip, Rugby’s forum post grew in popularity, so Quantas eventually learned of the matter. The airline then contacted the user directly to finally solve the problem. The latter was able to recover his iPhone a few days later, after weeks of travel.
