Horizon Forbidden West is still expected on PS4 and PS5 on February 18th. And while you were able to see multiple snippets of the game on PS5, we were still waiting to see the PS4 version in action. This is now the case, the Guerrilla Games teams have just published several gameplay videos. No worries for PS4 players, the game seems to be in line with its predecessor.
If you follow video game news, you probably know that a long-awaited exclusive is coming to PS4 and PS5 this February 18, 2022, namely Horizon Forbidden West. In recent weeks, communication around the title of Guerrilla Games is accelerating rapidly, and regularly the developers tell us a little about the world of gaming via numerous articles published on the Playstation Blog.
We were able to learn more about the combat mechanics, the contributions of the DualSense and the various gadgets used by Aloy, or even about the tribes that populate this devastated world via a sublime trailer in 4K. Nevertheless, it should be mentioned that all the excerpts broadcast until then for the studio was only concerned with the PS5 version of the game. And as the title’s release neared, gamers were starting to worry about how Horizon Forbidden West would render on PS4 and PS4 Pro.
However, Guerrilla Games has just published a final article on Playstation Blog. In the first place, the studio announces that the game has gone Gold, in other words that its development is officially finished and the game is ready to be printed, duplicated and distributed. No last-minute release postponement.
Excerpts from the PS4 Pro version… but not PS4
Via this publication, the developers also take the opportunity to reveal some gameplay footage from Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 Pro. Everyone is free to judge, but it is clear that the title seems fluid and still impressive graphically speaking. Difficult after to know if the performances will remain stable in all the situations. Moreover, these three extracts do not really allow us to observe any graphic concessions (textures, light and particle effects, etc.) operated by the studio to ensure that the game works well on older Sony consoles.
Another point of concern these excerpts are from the PS4 Pro version, which remains a more powerful console than the PS4 (1.84 TFLOP against 4.2 TFLOP) capable of displaying certain greedy titles in 60 FPS and 4K upscaled. In other words, we don’t know what Horizon Forbidden West will look like on PS4, and we can strongly advise you to wait for the first PS4 tests before jumping on the beast.
