Huawei could launch HarmonyOS in Europe at MWC 2022, but it’s not won

As MWC 2022 approaches, Huawei has shared a mysterious visual that appears to herald the global launch of HarmonyOS. So far confined to Chinese territory, many users are still waiting to get their hands on the Android alternative. However, it seems quite unlikely that the operating system will indeed arrive on our side of the globe in the coming weeks.

Several months after its launch, still no trace of HarmonyOS in Europe. Whereas the transition is becoming more and more urgent for Huawei smartphone users, the manufacturer does not yet seem ready to deploy its operating system to the whole world. For now, only China can benefit from it. Yet hope still lingers, and the MWC 2022 approaching could put an end to expectations.

Indeed, just a few days before the event, the firm published a visual on which we can read “HarmonyOS Global” accompanied by the mention MWC 2022. It’s already starting to smell good, but it is all the more promising when we notice that the support simulates the operation of Super Device, which allows to control several devices from a single smartphone. So, will HarmonyOS arrive in our regions in the coming days? Not so fast.

Will HarmonyOS soon be available in Europe?

The signs indeed seem go the wrong way of this assumption. To begin with, Huawei itself recently denied that its operating system would arrive in Europe in 2022. At a minimum, we would therefore have to wait until next year to witness the global deployment. As a result, Western users must for the moment be content with EMUI 12, the new version of the overlay which is still based on the home-made OS from Huawei.

Moreover, there is still the question of application compatibility. Since the launch of HarmonyOS, several reports attest to problems in this area after installing the operating system. Some rumors also claim that this is the reason why it preferred to deploy EMUI 12 rather than its OS in global markets, although no tangible proof is available to date. Response February 27 so.
