Instagram could soon have some very interesting new privacy settings. According to reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, the social network would work on a feature called “Close Friends”, which would work in the same way as for Stories. Thus, it would be possible to select certain users who will be able to view these secret contents.
If Instagram has clearly lost its luster in recent years, among other things because of the TikTok tidal wave at the beginning of the 2020s, the social network continues to innovate to attract new users – and retain those who are still there. . The reverse engineers are therefore constantly on the lookout for the latest features within the application. However, it could be that one of them has just unearthed one.
This one shares his discovery on Twitter in the form of a screenshot, on which we can see a new section Hearing on the photo or video post window. By clicking on it, Instagram also offers to configure this audience to its Close friends. Connoisseurs of the social network will recognize there a functionality similar to what has already existed for Stories for some time.

This makes it possible to select a group of users who will have access to “secret” content, in other words hidden for all their other followers. It is therefore not surprising that Instagram finally decides to offer it for the publication of photos and video. We imagine that it will most likely work the same way.
But that’s not all. As BGR notes, it could also be a new way for creators to monetize its content, by encouraging their community to pay a subscription to gain access to this exclusive content, similar to what Twitter. For the application, it would also be a new income, after the implementation of the paid certification.
For the moment, Instagram has not yet officially communicated on the feature. We don’t know if it will ever be available to the general public.
