Is the Jung_e series the new Netflix Westworld?

Jung_e, the new Netflix series

Just a few hours ago one of those trailers that leave their mark was revealed. This is the first advance Jung_ethe new Netflix series directed by the person in charge of Train to Busan either Hellbound. Now, the South Korean director lands in the catalog of the red N with a proposal futuristic and dystopian whose first images have reminded us, in a certain way, of the recently heated Westworld from HBO Max. Do they have as much in common as it seems?

Jung_e, a very ugly future awaits us

Yeon Sang-ho is already well known among those who love horror and action movies, especially those from South Korea, with that very personal and identifying touch they have. The director received very good reviews and recognition for the famous film Train to Busan, a film in which the zombie apocalypse suddenly breaks out in the country, forcing its protagonists to board a train headed for Busan, the only safe place at the moment. then came Peninsulaits prequel, as well as a series for Netflix call Hellbound (in Spain it is known as heading to hell) with a supernatural theme, establishing Sang-ho as a budding creator of cult stories.

Now, the South Korean returns to the charge with Jung_e, a TV series that once again premieres on the content platform to present us with a bleak future in which our planet is no longer as we know it. The water level seems to have risen to levels incompatible with our life and that have turned the Earth into a desolate place. Even so, in it a battle is fought in which the sides use artificial intelligence to win the enemy. In this context, a Kronoid Lab researcher will clone the brain of her late mother (recognized army soldier) to replicate and create a human robot to serve as a new combat warrior.

The creation of humanoids is a topic that will undoubtedly remind us of the recently canceled Westworld, the famous HBO Max series about an amusement park with “humans” with artificial intelligence who end up thinking and acting for themselves. Even the image that we have used for the cover, belonging to the trailer, transports us to the laboratories of that plot and its protagonist, Dolores.

By the way, Kim Hyun-joo and Ryu Kyung-soo, whom we already saw in heading to hell, are part of the cast of this new idea. Also in the series appears Kang Soo-youn, a well-known Korean actress who passed away unexpectedly in May this year and who plays an AI researcher in the plot.

So that you finish opening your mouth again, we leave you with that first advance that we talked about at the beginning of this article. All yours.
