It’s been several years now that hallway noises evoke the arrival of a folding Samsung folding tablet. Its launch was specified in 2021, when Samsung had registered a tablet brand with a foldable screen “Galaxy Z Fold Tab”, and we now know when it could arrive on the market.

Indeed, according to leaker @Tech_Reve on Twitter, Samsung is about to launch its first foldable Galaxy Tab, and its launch would be planned at the same time as the next Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra. We already know a lot about them, so in particular that they should carry slightly larger batteries than the previous generation.

A Galaxy Z Fold Tab is coming soon

If the rumor is confirmed, we should see the Galaxy Z Fold Tab arrive at the next Samsung Unpacked conference, scheduled for next August. As a reminder, this will be an opportunity to discover the Galaxy Tab S9, but also two other foldable devices: the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

The Galaxy Z Fold Tab is expected to be powered by a top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 ‘For Galaxy’, and it will use an OLED display. However, we don’t know much about its design so far. Samsung could very well opt for a classic shape with a single hinge, or else use two hinges for the first time, which would allow the tablet to fold in three parts.

As it will be a large screen, it is likely that Samsung will decide to go with a design with two different folds, but it will probably be necessary to wait a few more weeks before knowing more about it. @Tech_Reve notes that if Samsung ultimately decides to postpone the project, then we’ll have to wait until next year to see the manufacturer’s first foldable tablet. For its part, Apple would prepare to counter the following year, with a foldable iPad.
