After the burglary on the set of The Crown, thieves attacked the set of Lupin, Netflix’s flagship series with Omar Sy. According to the streaming service, no less than €300,000 of equipment was stolen.
As you may know, filming the award-winning series The Crown was disrupted a week ago after a major burglary. In fact, no less than $200,000 worth of unique props were stolen from the filming site in Mexborough in the north of England. More specifically, 350 antiques have disappeared, including a replica of a Fabergé egg, twelve sets of silver candelabras and even Russian religious icons.
For lack of solid leads, investigators have already closed the case. However, fate is visibly hounding Netflix productions, since thieves have targeted the filming site of the Lupine series in Nanterre. Indeed, the team was attacked on February 26, 2022 in the afternoon with fireworks mortar fire.

After The Crown, Lupin’s turn to be robbed
Taking advantage of the surrounding chaos, the burglars managed to escape with more than €300,000 worth of equipment. No injuries were reported during the incident. The Hauts-de-Seine departmental judicial police service is in charge of the investigation. Moreover, dozens of witnesses were interviewed after the attack. Regardless, Netflix has assured that the filming schedule for The Crown and Lupine Season 3 will not be disrupted by these cases, and that no delay is to be deplored.
As a reminder, we recently learned that films released in theaters will be available on Netflix only 15 months after their release. It is now official. Of course, the streaming platform will have to comply with certain counterparties, starting with the commitment of finance French cinema to the tune of 40 million euros over the whole of 2022. This agreement will extend over the next three years, with an average of 30 million euros of investment per year in French cinema by Netflix. “Netflix and French cinema organizations welcome the fruitful discussions that have taken place in recent months and which will benefit cinematographic creation, in all its diversity”, assured the platform in an official press release.
