MCU: James McAvoy could play Charles Xavier again, if the story were good

The actor James McAvoy would gladly return to play Prof Charles Xavier within the MCU, but only if the story is well written.

James McAvoy’s Professor X could come to the MCU

James McAvoy he first debuted as the leader of the X-Men in X-Men: First Class, where he played a young Xavier trying to avoid a nuclear war alongside Magneto, played by Michael Fassbender.

The actor then returned to the role 3 more times, as well as a small cameo in Deadpool 2 in 2018. Now, speaking to Comicbook, he has stated that he would gladly play that character in an MCU movie, as long as the story is. good:

I’m interested in doing things that I think are good. When I was asked to play Charles Xavier for the first time, I saw potential in the story and I accepted. If they offer me a good script I will always accept. I am convinced that I have completed a complete journey with Xavier and I have had the opportunity to explore the character well, especially in the first two films. I am happy with what I have done but if there is a good motivation to return to the role, I am available.

McAvoy’s statement comes after the colleague Patrick Stewart, who plays Charles Xavier in the original trilogy, has given up playing the role again within the MCU. Contacted by Kevin Feige earlier this year, Stewart said he declined the offer because he felt that Logan he had brought a good conclusion to his version of the character.

With the fact that the X-Men are one of the most famous superhero groups in the Marvel, it is likely with not much short of their entry into the MCU, especially now that the 20th Century Fox was acquired by Disney.

The roads for their arrival in Marvel Cinematic Universe there are essentially two: a totally new casting to insert the mutants in the next Marvel movies or the use of the multiverse opened by Loki to bring back actors who have already played the X-Men in the past few years.

The certainty is that fans can’t wait for the X-Men, as well as the Fantastic 4, to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
