Microsoft Teams now allows you to sign documents during meetings

The Redmond giant has introduced a new feature in Microsoft Teams that will allow users of said platform to sign documents while a meeting is taking place. This is a function that according to the American company was being highly demanded by users, and for quite some time.

You can imagine that such a feature would have been of great value during the COVID-19 pandemic, but for some unknown reason Microsoft was unable to introduce it at the time. What can we say Better late than neverand this is what Microsoft has said when announcing the landing of this new function:

“Teams Store has many integrations with electronic signature providers and offers them as an out-of-the-box solution, allowing their clients to sign documents during the meeting, a feature that has been in high demand.”

With the proof of concept developed by Teams Ecosystem Engineering we can select the document we want to sign and add it to the Microsoft Teams meeting for parties to sign as well. However, depending on the role we play during the Teams meeting, we may only be able to view the document. This will happen if our signature is not required, and in addition, Microsoft highlights that the signing process will be smooth because they are using Teams SSO.

Microsoft has confirmed that the code can be customized, allowing ISVs to choose the type of signature they require the other party to add. The same goes for the POC, especially when it comes to certain instances like code reviews or accepting changes made to documents. At the moment this function is only available for users who work in the same organization and who use the desktop clientalthough little by little support will be extended to guest and anonymous users, and also to the mobile and web versions of Microsoft Teams.
