The new 27-inch iMac will not have a mini-LED panel

Sources from the Taiwanese distribution chain, consulted by the prolific DigiTimes, assure that the new 27-inch iMac will not use a mini-LED panel, and that instead will come equipped with the classic LCD panel that we have seen in previous versions. If confirmed, it would be bad news as this is one of the most anticipated improvements.

We had also seen rumors that the next generation iMac could have a version with a size greater than 27 inches, but those rumors have been practically abandoned, and it seems they didn’t make any sense. However, as we are not talking about confirmed official information, it is impossible to take it for granted.

Returning to the new iMac, Apple is expected to introduce the 2022 series in the spring of that year, and to maintain the current generation design. We do not expect major changes because, precisely, these have already occurred with the generation that is currently marketed, and we don’t think Apple is going to do two design renovations in such short spaces of time.

This means that the 2022 27-inch iMac they should be practically identicalIn terms of design, to the 2021 models. However, Apple may take the opportunity to introduce a new color, but beyond that no external changes can be expected. The most important news will be, therefore, inside.

Since it is said that the iMac 2022 will not use mini-LED panels, the most relevant change would be found in the integration of the new Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max SoCs, although I am still not entirely clear if Apple will offer both configurations or if it will be limited to one of them. We will have to wait to see what happens when the launch of these new equipment occurs. All in all, I think it will most likely offer both SoCs to cover different price ranges.

About the price we do not have details, but its arrival will be, in any case, positive, since these new iMac they could make the price drop of the 24-inch generation.
