Microsoft works on a system that could end the Windows we know

This software giant has to its credit different solutions that are used by hundreds of millions of users around the globe. Hence, the company does not stop innovating and improving its products to make them reach all its customers. We tell you all this because at this moment Microsoft itself could be working, again, on a latest version of Windows. These types of projects are sure to be more than familiar to many of you.

Who does not remember the projects of Windows 8 RT or of Windows 10X of which so much was talked about at the time. All this, after a while, ended up being archived, at least temporarily. However, now there is talk of a new, more modern operating system that the software giant could be working on for some time. At the moment it is nothing more than rumors that are beginning to become public. With everything and with this, anonymous sources close to the project begin to filter this development that we are talking about.

To give you an idea of all this, these leaks ensure that the aforementioned Microsoft is working on a project that for the moment called CorePC. Keep in mind that CorePC has similar goals to Windows 10x. But of course, in this sense the firm seems to have also learned from the mistakes of the past.

All this will offer us the new Windows, Core OS

The first thing to keep in mind is that this new Windows Core OS has as its main objective to gain part of the market share of Google with their Chromebooks. This is something that does not happen for the first time, since we already saw the first attempts of the company with Windows 8 RT. This is a system that they failed miserably with at the time. One of the main reasons was that Microsoft removed support for third-party programs, which was not a smart move.

More so if we take into account that at that time UWP applications were even less accepted than today. Also, Windows RT only worked on ARM devices.

VLC in the Microsoft Store

On the other hand, we saw Windows 10X, the last attempt to create a modern version of the system but it was never released. Well, now Microsoft is working on Windows Core OS with which it wants to offer a modular and customizable variant of Windows.

Here, the most important difference between CorePC and previous attempts is that some of its versions will support external Win32 applications. Furthermore, it uses a system of read-only partitions that are locked and inaccessible to users and third-party applications. This will improve security, updates and the restoration of the operating system. This is something key in education and to compete with chrome OS.

What’s more, these leaks ensure that a trial version comes with edgeapplications of office, support for web applications and Android apps. We will have several versions of CorePC to adapt to all types of users and equipment.
