Mission Impossible 7 and 8 postponed again

The famous spy, camped by Tom Cruise, will ultimately not return this year. The next two opuses will arrive in 2023 and 2024.

It was one of the first shoots to take an enforced break in March 2020. As the COVID-19 virus arrived in Europe, crews from Impossible mission had been shut down for several months. The return to the sets took place in the summer of 2020, with two opuses produced in a row. An acceleration which foreshadowed a return of the actor and his band to our screens in 2022 and 2023. Finally, Paramount Pictures is pushing back the deadline again.

According to Deadlinethe studios finally favored a postponement, in 2023 and 2024 respectivelyno doubt hoping that the pandemic will be far behind us at these times. “After careful consideration, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission Impossible 7 & 8 in response to delays due to the pandemic. The new dates will be July 14, 2023 and June 28, 2024 respectively. We look forward to providing moviegoers with an unprecedented theatrical experience.” the company said in a statement.

These new parts of the adventures of Ethan Hunt will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who was already at work on the previous film. In front of the camera, we will obviously find Tom Cruise in the main role, as well as Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames in those of his acolytes. Hayley Atwell (Marvel’s: Agent Carter) will also be there, as will Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2). The details of the plot are for the time being kept secret, we know however that the whole clique should make a small detour through Europe, and particularly in Italy.

Triple dose of Tom Cruise until 2024

This postponement will allow Paramount to distribute its productions with Tom Cruise in dribs and drabs. The actor will therefore be showing a production every year until 2024. He should thus return in the skin of Pete Maverick in the second opus of Top Gun. The film directed by Joseph Kosinski will land on our screens next spring, on May 25 to be exact.

This return has also been postponed many times, it was to be released last summer before being postponed to the year 2022. As a reminder, this second part of the pilot’s adventures will take us thirty years after the events of the first film. . As he continues to push his limits as a test pilot, Maverick refuses to move up in rank, as it would force him to give up flying. He is in charge of training a detachment of young Top Gun school graduates for a very special mission. He will then meet Bradley “Rooster”, the son of his late friend Nick “Goose” and face the ghosts of his past.
