MIUI 14, the next version of Xiaomi’s Android-based overlay, was due to land on December 1, 2022. Finally, the launch of the manufacturer’s interface was postponed. But finally, the Chinese brand announced on Wednesday the postponement to an indefinite date of the launch of the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. For the moment, Xiaomi has not revealed the precise reasons for this discrepancy, even if several specialists cite the death of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin as the main cause.

First, we learn that MIUI 14 will take up less storage space on your device (-23% compared to MIUI 13) and that it will benefit from an improved system architecture. Thanks to it, the performance of pre-installed and third-party apps on MIUI 14 will be boosted and consume less energy. Moreover, we know that it will be possible to uninstall all native apps, except Phone or Messages for example.
In addition, MIUI 14 will visibly emphasize customization with new widget formats to offer more possible combinations. The overlay will also offer “Super Icons” to give your home screen a new look. Another novelty, users will be able to have a plant or an animal always present on their home screen, we suspect that it is a kind of animated avatar.

- Mi Smart Hub will benefit from a significant redesign, with more compatible devices and better performance
