MSI announces the renewal of its lines of laptops for “gaming”

M: YES has shown at CES 2023 a lots of laptops with which it intends to renew its catalogue, although in most cases we find ourselves upgrading existing equipment to the latest generation hardware marketed by Intel (Raptor Lake) and NVIDIA (RTX 4000/Ada Lovelace). In this entry we will try to summarize the most interesting.

As we have already said, the latest generation of laptops presented by MSI at CES 2023 stands out for the use of the GeForce RTX 4000 generation of NVIDIA graphics, which stands out for its energy efficiency and deepening the technologies, proprietary or not, that the giant Green has been developing over the years, such as DLSS, artificial intelligence, ray tracing, and multimedia support for both local and local rendering. streaming. All this has made its GPUs highly appreciated by both gamers as professionals from different fields.

On the other hand, and according to MSI, the use of the Raptor Lake generation of Intel processors has allowed performance to increase by up to 45% thanks mainly to the increase in the number of cores and frequencies in turbo mode.

All laptops featured by MSI come with the company’s latest exclusive thermal design, which helps keep temperatures at bay in order to offer the best performance. All heat pipes have been redesigned to shared pipes, dedicated pipes, and dedicated VRAM pipes so that full graphics performance can be sustained.

After going through the general features for a bit, we are going to briefly mention and explain each of MSI’s next-generation laptop series.

Titan GT, Raider GE and Vector GP series

The series Titan GT and Raider GE incorporate up to an Intel Core 9-13980HX as processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 for laptops as dedicated graphics. These components are accompanied by the exclusive MSI OverBoost Ultra technology, which supplies a total power of 250 watts or supports up to 5.2GHz frequency through the high-performance CPU cores depending on the workload.

At the screen level, the Titan GT is equipped, according to MSI, with the world’s first 4K 144Hz Mini LED display, which has more than 1,000 nits of brightness and more than 1,000 local dimming zones. For its part, the screen of the Raider GE is QHD, supports an aspect ratio of 16:10 and 240Hz.

The Raider GE series comes with a new chassis with an improved matrix light bar, while the Vector GP has a new design that is minimal and low-profile, but also contributes to professional performance for engineering and STEM.

MSI laptops

The two variants of Titan GT77 support DDR5 RAM up to 128GB and they have one NVMe M.2 slot with PCIe 5 support and two other NVMe M.2 slots for PCIe 4. The 17.3-inch mini LED screen supports a native resolution of 3,840×2,160 pixels, a refresh rate 144MHz and has the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certificate. Among the connections we can highlight the presence of Thunderbolt 4, Intel 2.5Gbps Etrernet and the presence of Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1690 with Bluetooth v5.3.

The Raider series supports a maximum of 64GB of DDR5 RAM and makes available screens of 2,560×1,600 pixels at 240Hz and 3,840×2,160 pixels at 120Hz along with graphics models ranging from the GeForce RTX 4060 to the RTX 4090.

The Vector GP series is more modest by offering only a 17.3-inch screen at 1440p and 240Hz, making the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 available as the only graphics models and using up to an Intel Core i9-13900H as a processor, although it also supports a maximum of 64GB of RAM.

Stealth Series

MSI makes available through the Stealth series models with 14, 15, 16 and 17-inch screens, among which the Stealth 14 Studio and Stealth 16 Studio are released. Those two models use a thin and light chassis made of magnesium-aluminum alloy, while the Stealth 14 Studio implements the MSI Vapor Chamber thermal design to build itself as a laptop. gaming powerful. The Stealth 16 Studio stands out for incorporating Dynaudio trilateral sound with six speakers.

Continuing with more models in the same series, the Stealth 15 has an OLED screen that runs at 240Hz, with a response time of just 0.2 milliseconds and supports 100% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum to offer the best experience in playing video games. Prestige Series

And we close with one of MSI’s best-known lines of laptops, Prestige, which for 2023 has been renewed, like the rest of the brand’s lines, with Intel Raptor Lake, although here only the Prestige 16 Studio variants include an NVIDIA RTX 4000 graphics and the rest is limited to using the integrated Xe processor. Of course, that does not mean that they are not very capable teams and not everyone needs high power at the graphics level to do their job.

From the series stands out the new MSI Prestige 13 Evo, a small model with dimensions of 299 x 210 x 16.9 millimeters and a weight of 0.99 kilograms. It can equip up to an Intel Core i7-1370P as a processor, up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM at 4,800MHz and has an M.2 for PCIe Gen 4 in NVMe format. Its 13.3-inch screen supports a resolution of 1,920 × 1,200 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and incorporates a 4-cell, 75Wh battery and an ambient light sensor.

MSI Prestige

The 14 Evo and 16 Evo models are not radically different from the 13 Evo, so we’ll focus on the Prestige 16 Studio, which together with a Raptor Lake generation Intel Core i7 processor can incorporate a 16-inch screen with a resolution of 2,560 × 1,600 pixels, a frequency of 165Hz and which, depending on the variant, may or may not be Mini LED. As dedicated graphics, it is possible to find an RTX 4050 or an RTX 4060 and the battery is always 4 cells and 82Whr, all with dimensions of 358 x 258.55 x 16.85 millimeters and a weight of 2.1 kilograms.
