Netflix shows another trailer for the Resident Evil series

As gamers, it is certain that you have ever wondered how it was possible that, with how well Capcom had done with its saga resident Evil over the last 26 years, then it was so disastrous when entrusting her film projects that have made their franchise secondary to large ocean liners such as The Walking Dead. So now with the new Netflix series we hope, at least, that it will be reborn a little bit and make its name even brighter.

A series and a new beginning

The fact is that he was playing hard to get because knowing how we knew that the expected release date of the series resident Evil had been fixed for the month of July, we did not understand that at this point we did not have more content of the series to stay calm. And it is that until now, the North Americans had left us a couple of teasers for a month, so that we could get an idea of what we will be able to enjoy soon and that surely give us a fairly approximate vision of the depth of this new fiction.

And why do we say that? Because the documentation work has been exhaustive to synchronize everything that happens in the series with the events that we have experienced in video games, and that according to the showrunner of the series, these are facts recognized as official (canonical) within the lore of resident Evil. In other words, if Raccoon City was blown up in 1998, in the series if there is any reference it will speak in those same terms. Or the murder of Albert Wesker and the first signs that something was wrong in the early 2000s.

In any case, the action of the first season, which will consist of eight episodes, It will move between two very specific years: 2036 and 2022. The first will show us the total devastation of the famous Umbrella Corporation virus and a world that tries to survive the apocalypse, while the second date will serve to plant the plot pillars of what we will see later, especially in what has to do with the biographical background of the protagonists.

A successful collaboration with Capcom

The collaboration between the Netflix project and Capcom has been total and it seems that the japanese have not saved franchise information, as well as new projects in which they work, in case they could serve as a hook for a future expansion of the series, with data that serve to hang new plots or open new questions in fiction. That is why his own showrunner has confessed to some media that «everything that happened in the games happens in the Show at the same time it was produced in the games.

This implies that, for example, all the events of Resident Evil Villagewhich arguably takes place a year before the start of the series, in 2021, were taken into account in case they were useful for the plot of the Netflix fiction: “essentially they happen simultaneously. […] Obviously they don’t intersect, because they’re happening in places far apart, but they certainly Village is part of the lore of the series. If we wanted now to put a vampire woman [Lady Dimitrescu] giant in season two, we can.”

If you are as eager to see it as practically all fans of the Capcom franchise, remember that the first season of Resident Evil on Netflix It will premiere next on July 14.
