The Realme GT 2 Pro is official. As expected, the smartphone was presented in China, revealing all the technical elements. If some were already known, such as the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm or the Samsung AMOLED LTPO 120 Hz screen, others were not, in particular the presence of a Sony IMX766 photo sensor that equips some of the terminals top of the line Oppo. And the phone has other surprises in store.
As expected, Realme, the cousin brand of Oppo and OnePlus, today presented its latest premium flagship to replace the Realme GT. Or rather its last jewels since they are two: the Realme GT 2 and the Realme GT 2 Pro. These are two smartphones that should offer very good performance-price ratios, like the Realme GTs that we appreciated so much in 2021. Moreover, the various rumors about these phones suggested that one of them would be equipped. of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. And it is.

But that is obviously not all. Design, screen and photo have also been reworked, as we will be able to discover throughout this article. This smartphone duo is therefore more ambitious. It no longer targets only the Pocophone range from Xiaomi or the Galaxy A from Samsung. It could also overshadow the standard bearers of Chinese brands such as OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi or even… Oppo, to which Realme belongs. Indeed, several elements in the Realme GT 2 Pro remind us of the Find X3 Neo, just that.
The hull of the Realme GT 2 was created by the same designer behind the GT Master Edition
Let’s start this presentation with an overview of the design, which strongly reminds us of the Reno6 and Reno6 Pro that we tested recently. At the back a rectangular photo block is present in the upper left corner. On the front, a large screen with a punch for a selfie sensor and a telephone receiver hidden in the border. Both phones come in four colors, two of which feature a textured back created by Naoto Fukasawa, already at the origin of the so particular hull of the GT Master Edition.
On the technical sheet side, the GT 2 and GT 2 Pro do not benefit from the same components. Whether on the screen, processor, RAM, storage or even photo sensors. Only common element: the battery of 5000 mAh fast charge compatible 65 watts, another legacy of Oppo. Realme promises a full charge in 33 minutes. But above all, we hope to see the arrival of tools to manage and protect the battery.
Realme GT 2 Pro: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Quad HD LTPO 120Hz display, up to 12GB RAM
The Realme GT2 Pro incorporates a high-end platform. At the heart, we find the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, clocked up to 3 GHz. The GPU is a Adreno 730. The SoC is accompanied by 8 or 12 GB of RAM and of 128, 256 or 512 GB of storage. There are four different configurations for a price that ranges between 3,900 yuan and 5,000 yuan. Or a range between 540 euros and 700 euros.
At this price, you don’t just have a Snapdragon. You also have a Samsung panel AMOLED LTPO whose display frequency varies between 1 Hz and 120 Hz. It is a slab that measures 6.7 inch and display an image in Quad HD and not in Full HD. The announced sampling frequency is 1000 Hz. This is obviously by far the highest frequency for a touch layer. The brightness is 1400 nits. The color sample is DCI-P3. And the protective glass is from Gorilla Victus from Corning. Another improvement, audio: the GT2 Pro integrates two speakers. It’s good news.
The photo configuration of the Realme GT 2 Pro resembles that of the Reno6 Pro
On the photo side, the GT 2 Pro has three sensors. The first is the IMX766 from Sony, which you find in the Reno6 Pro, Find X3 Pro and Find X3 Neo. It is a very good sensor associated with a stabilized objective opening at f / 1.8. The Realme GT range suffers from a lack of photo quality. The presence of a sensor shows that the brand has finally realized it. The second sensor is a model 50 megapixels with objective ultra wide angle 150 ° opening at f / 2.2. And the last is a sensor ” microscope »Which zooms up to 40x, against 60x at Oppo. At the front the webcam is a model 32 megapixels from Sony with lens opening at f / 2.4.
A few words about the “classic” GT 2 which seems to us to be a less straightforward evolution vis-à-vis the Realme GT. You find a screen AMOLED Full HD 120 Hz of 6.62 inch, mineral glass Gorilla 5, a Snapdragon 888, 8 or 12 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of storage, one triple photo sensor 50 + 8 + 2 megapixels (the main model is an IMX766 with optical stabilizer) and a selfie sensor of 16 megapixels. The smartphone will be on sale between 2,600 yuan and 3,100 yuan depending on the configuration (there are three). Either between 360 and 430 euros.
