Oledcomm launches its first LiFi (internet by light) tablet

Oledcomm takes a new step. The French company specializing in LiFi (internet through light) has indeed launched an Android tablet on the occasion of CES.

LiFi is this very promising “Light Fidelity” technology that carries the Internet by light. In detail, it transmits data by modulating light signals from a light source, a process invisible to the naked eye. LiFi has 100 times faster latency than WiFi.

Large flows to be expected

Oledcomm is one of the world leaders, and thanks to the 2022 edition of CES, the French manufacturer unveiled its first Android 10 tablet, the LiFiMAXTab. A mid-range product, designed for teleworking, but also for the whole family and children, whether at home or for school (remotely or not).

The tablet has a 10.1 inch screen (1,920 x 1,200), its processor is a MediaTek MTK6762 (8 cores at 2 GHz), 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage. It has a USB-C port, two SIM slots, a 3.5mm jack port, and a TF card reader. Two 2 x 1 W speakers and two cameras (one 2 megapixel on the front, and 5 megapixel on the rear) are also present for video calls.

These technical characteristics are not exceptional for an Android tablet, but the LiFiMAXTab is distinguished by the presence of a LiFi module which ensures a download and upload speed of 150 Mbps. Enough to take advantage of all the possibilities offered by streaming, including video games!

The tablet has an 8,000 mAh battery which gives it 6 to 7 hours of autonomy, plus an additional 6,000 mAh battery for the LiFi module. It will be available in February for € 400. A product that has potential in homes where traditional Wi-Fi solutions are insufficient or ill-suited.
