Oppo Watch 3 and 3 Pro: two super-powerful connected watches with record autonomy

Oppo has just announced a duo of Watch 3 and 3 Pro smartwatches, featuring Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip. These are the first devices to adopt the new platform since Qualcomm announced it last month.

Oppo has finally launched a new generation of high-end smartwatches with two models: the Watch 3 and the Watch 3 Pro. Both devices arrive with a major design update with a more rounded frame and edges. They also have a rotating mechanical crown that allows better control of the watch.

The Oppo Watch 3 has a 1.75 inch AMOLED display with a definition of 372 x 430 pixels and a layer of 3D glass. The Pro variant comes with a 1.91-inch AMOLED LTPO display, with a definition of 378 x 496 pixels and the Always on Display function. it’s about the Oppo’s first smartwatch with LTPO display technologywhich will allow it to adjust the refresh rate dynamically.

The Oppo Watch 3 and 3 Pro are much more powerful than the previous generation

The duo is mainly powered by the new Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC that Qualcomm presented a few weeks ago. It’s backed up by 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and even an Oppo Apollo 4 Plus chip to help the main processor with low-power tasks.

The capacity of the battery on standard and Pro models is 400 mAh and 550 mAh respectively. The Oppo Watch 3 Pro is advertised as being able to reach the 5 days of autonomy on a single charge, and up to 15 days in Lite Smart mode. It takes 65 minutes for the watch to be fully charged, or only 10 to last until the end of the day.

This is therefore a record for a watch that will probably run on Wear OS in Europe, and more than the three days of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. This is made possible in particular thanks to the processor, which Qualcomm claims to be twice as energy efficient.

Both models feature the same suite of sensors including a heart rate sensor, pulse oximeter and, for the first time for the manufacturer, an ECG. You also get eSIM connectivity, built-in GPS, and both devices feature 5ATM water resistance. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, NFC, eSIM, Wi-Fi, and LTE.

The Oppo Watch 3 is offered from 1499 yuan (about 216€) and the Pro variant from 1899 yuan (around 274€) The Oppo Watch 3 is available in Platinum Black and Feather Gold while those interested in the Watch 3 Pro will be able to choose between Platinum Black and Desert Brown. We do not yet know when these will arrive in France.
