While we’ve all been looking and rummaging through the Prime Day 2023 deals, Warner Bros. Pictures has wasted no time surprising us with the release of one of its biggest 2023 releases: Wonka, a prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Timothée Chalamet picking up the baton from Johnny Depp and the legendary Gene Wilder.
Wonka, what was Willy like before everything we know?
The homonymous novel written by Roald Dahl, published in 1964, has given rise to a couple of mythical films in the cinema. The first one had as an actor in the role of Willy Wonka Gene Wilder and certainly gave it a personal touch and character. Even those who have not seen the tape (the film is already 50 years old, which is said to be soon) have the image of the actor dressed in the colorful clothing of the particular character engraved on their retinas.
After him, many years later, came Tim Burton’s version with Johnny Depp in one of the roles of his life. And it is that Depp has that eccentric air that he undoubtedly knew how to contribute to a new Wonka that dazzled everyone.
Therefore, looking for an actor to play that character in a prequel to show his beginnings and how he was when he was young was not an easy task. Even so, we all breathe a little relieved to know that Timothée Chalamet I would be in charge of such a task. The disheveled and alternative air of him could fit well with the younger Willy Wonka, a theory that we can now verify if it is fulfilled thanks to the first trailer for the film. As we pointed out to you, Warner Bros. Pictures He did not want to wait any longer and has finally released the first trailer for Wonka. In it we can finally see how one of the hottest actors in Hollywood develops as a leading man, something that has left critics somewhat divided.
There are the fans of the actor from Dune, who believe that it fits like a glove on a finger; and those who think that perhaps the role of him is great for a young man who lacks that point of charisma and spark that both Wilder and Depp knew how to give the character.

Whether you like the role of Chalamet or not, what cannot be denied is that the film seems to be surrounded by magic and color in each frame. The staging and setting show that So-and-so (the director or directors, their name is Paddington) has taken this endearing story very seriously.
