Razer’s most surprising announcements at CES 2023

Yesterday we told you that the great protagonists of Razer at this CES 2023 have undoubtedly been the new Blade 16 and Blade 18 laptops, two systems designed for the most gamers and, therefore, equipped with state-of-the-art components to provide a outstanding performance.

In addition, we also learned the debut date of the much-awaited Razer Edge, which we already told you about a while ago, and which will finally hit stores (at least only in the United States for now) on January 26. , in WiFi and WiFi+5G versions, with prices starting at $399.99. I don’t think that the fact that it goes on sale precisely on my birthday is a coincidence, the problem is that an ocean separates me from the possibility of giving it to myself for such an important date.

However, although the laptops and the portable console have captured the vast majority of the headlines, the truth is that Razer has also presented three other quite interesting products and of which we echo here and now. And I can already tell you that surely at least two of them will attract your attention.

Concept “Project Carol”

We must start from the base of stressing that we are talking about a concepts, that is, from a departure from the company’s R&D department, not from a formal product proposal. In other words, it may end up reaching the market exactly as it has been presented, it may do so with a difference or it may, in the worst case, not reach it. This last option would be a great shame, yes, because it seems to me a brilliant idea, if it can finally materialize.

At first glance it looks like just a head cushion, but in reality it is much more, as it integrates a complete 7.1 surround sound system based on near-field surround sound technology. Do you think it could be better? Well yes, and it is that in addition to sound it also provides a haptic response, by processing the sounds it emits in real time and generating a movement response coordinated with them.

This cushion connects to the PC completely wirelessly through the 2.4 gigahertz band and integrates a battery capable of providing autonomy of up to eight hours. Also, thanks to its adjustable design, it could be used on almost any gaming chair. You can find more information at this link.

Razer Leviathan V2 Pro

Once again we are faced with a device that is more than it seems. What appears to the naked eye is evident, of course, a sound bar for PC. In this regard, both THX and Audioscenic managers have participated in its design, which allows us to easily conclude that its main objective is to provide as immersive an experience as possible with a device of this type.

Now, why do I say that it is more than it seems? Well, because once again Razer has decided to go one step further, by integrating into this Leviathan V2 Pro a system based on an IR camera that, in combination with an AI algorithm, determines the user’s position at all times, in order to orient the exit sign towards it. In this way, it is the sound bar that dynamically adapts to the user’s position, and not the other way around, as usually happens.

You can find more information about the Razer Leviathan V2 Pro at this link. It will be available from January 2023 with a price of 489.99 euros.

Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra

Some manufacturers (not many, fortunately) are in the habit of measuring the quality of their cameras by the total megapixels of their sensors. It is true, of course, that a higher number of megapixels refers to a higher resolution of the captures, of course, but the actual quality of the photo will be determined more by other aspects, such as the quality and size of the sensor used to take the captures. A sensor that is too small and with a high resolution will provide, in most cases, images of a more than questionable quality.

At Razer they are very aware of this and, consequently, they have presented this Kiyo Pro Ultra, a webcam inside which we find a 1/1.2-inch Sony STARVIS 2 Sensor, with a pixel size of 2.9 μm that will provide us with a capture of light and data similar to that provided by DSLR cameras. It is also accompanied by an optical section with f/1.7 number, which will provide well-illuminated images even in low light conditions.
