Now it seems that a group of modders they have taken pity on all those users and have worked a mode that allows you to remove the virtual reality layer from Half Life Alyx, in such a way that it is possible to start the game and complete it in 2D, as we would with any other title that we keep in our Steam library. But are you really going to do that?
It is obvious that it is a great opportunity if you do not have present and future plans to get virtual reality glasses on PC, but we already tell you that you’re giving up the greatest Half-Life experience imaginable. Only when you put on a VR headset and see the work Valve has done to offer such brutal immersion do you realize the relevance of that technology. And of its potential.
Read this before applying mode
I have been able to try Half Life Alyx in the two possible ways, with and without a VR mod, and I want to warn you of only one thing: if you don’t want to make the leap to virtual reality because you don’t feel like it, because you don’t want to spend money or for any other reason, don’t even think and play it in 2D. But if it is not like that and you doubt, and you want to really experiment… do not apply the mode until you have seen it at the home of a friend or family member who does have one of these glasses.
We only ask you that, that don’t blow up with him mode 2D of Half Life Alyx the precise, overwhelming and immersive sensation which is achieved by seeing it in 3D and attending a spectacle of tasks and jobs that transform this title into a game drawer where each element that appears on the screen gives to be a game in itself: the cans that we throw at the cat, the chalks to paint on the wall, the locked bug that we can feed… and a long –and infinite– etcetera.
Seriously that not worth trying mode unless you’ve already passed Half Life Alyx how it was conceived and enjoy what is –in our opinion– the best game ever created for virtual reality glasses.
