Renault will launch its own network of charging stations, the Mobilize Fast Charge

Renault is investing heavily in the field of electric cars. In addition to launching a new division called Mobilize, the company announces the deployment of a network of charging stations called Mobilize Fast Charge throughout the Old Continent.

These days, when talking about electric car charging stations, the name that comes to mind first and foremost is Tesla. The American giant is not only a pioneer in this area, but with 10,000 Superchargers located in Europe, we can say that it has taken a substantial lead over any competition. This does not seem to discourage the Renault brand, which with the Mobilize Fast Charge networkalso intends to establish itself on the oh so buoyant market of the electric car.

Renault does not just build electric cars on French soil. The company also wants to offer charging stations to its customers. Better still, and like Tesla, it wants owners of vehicles from competing brands to come and recharge them at their terminals. To do this, the diamond brand has planned to install 200 charging points in Europe, including 90 in France. If the idea is to install the terminals where they will be most useful, that is to say near the main axes, the company will first rely on its large network of dealers.

By 2024, therefore, motorists should find at least a Renault station every 150 kilometers, close to motorway exits and expressways in France. Of course, the stations will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and each one will offer at least 6 terminals capable of delivering a fast recharge of power of 400 kW, the most powerful in Europe according to the company. Clotilde Delbos, CEO of Mobilize, has big ambitions for the company. She says that “one of Mobilize’s goals is to make mobility cleaner and more accessible. Mobilize Fast Charge contributes to this by allowing drivers of all-electric vehicles to access charging stations regardless of the brand they drive”.

In these times of energy crisis and fuel shortage, it is essential to ensure that all motorists have access to terminals without discrimination of brand. Like modern service stations, Renault stations will offer entertainment options and relaxation areas with all modern facilities, such as Wi-Fi and/or a dining area, in order to wait while the vehicles recharge. In its own way, Renault is helping to extend electricity coverage on the European network. France is in third position with regard to the number of terminals on the national territory. The Netherlands are good first, followed by Germany. It is estimated that by 2030, Europe will be equipped with 2.8 million charging points. This year, all Renault cars will be electric.
