Resident Evil Village: VR mode will be free with PSVR2 if you already have the game

We finally have a release date for Resident Evil Village VR. The new mode of the horror game will be available on the same day as the release of PSVR2, namely February 22, 2023, announced Sony and Capcom. Better yet, the latter will be completely free already having a copy of the title.

Yesterday, Sony and Capcom released a blog post that is sure to please all Resident Evil fans. It’s been some time now that we know that the latest installment in the saga, Resident Evil Village, will be entitled to a VR mode exclusive to the PS5. We still lacked the release date and the technical details, it’s now done. Indeed, Resident Evil Village VR will be available on February 22, 2023.

If this date means something to you, it is not by chance: it is also the release date of Sony’s new VR headset, the PSVR2. In other words, you can chat in virtual reality with Lady Dimitrescu if you get your hands on the PSVR2 from day one. The icing on the cake: you won’t have to spend a penny more than the sum of the headset if you already own the game. The update will indeed be free.

Kanda Tsuyoshi, producer at Capcom, specifies that the VR mode will only be available in the Resident Evil Village campaign. It is therefore impossible to browse the Mercenary mode or the recent Shadows of Rose DLC with the Sony helmet. Nevertheless, the latter will bring many new sensations to the players, in particular “vibration, recoil, and resistance when interacting with objects in the world and firing weapons. »

Resident Evil Village VR will thus join the list of PSVR2 titles, which can already boast of having Horizon: Call of the Mountain in its ranks. Sony also announced a VR mode for the remake of Resident Evil 4, as well as a No Man’s Sky patch and a new game from the universe of The Walking Dead. It will still take 600 € to have access to this toy library.
