Samsung has already advanced a teaser of this monitor when it appeared on the stream where AMD announced its new generation of graphics cards, RNDA 3, promising that it would be “the industry’s first 8K monitor”. Like its predecessor, its refresh rate is very high for its resolution: 240hz. The rest of the specifications are up to scratch, with 1 ms response time, a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, support for the HDR 1000 standard, support for AMD FreeSync Premium image synchronization technology and we assume compatibility with NVIDIA G-Sync.
Another of the great novelties comes from its connection interface, since it is the first monitor with Display Port 2.1, the latest version of this standard that leaves what HDMI is capable of offering in “infants”. On PCs there is no color. It also offers an HDMI 2.1 port and a USB hub with peripheral charging via USB Type-C up to 65 watts.
The monitor includes applications from partners such as Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube through its Smart Hub, allowing users to enjoy content through an Internet connection. no need for a PC. It is also equipped with Samsung’s Gaming Hub, an all-in-one game streaming platform that allows gamers to play cloud games from partners like Xbox and NVIDIA GeForce Now without the need for a console or downloading the games.
No price has been provided for this Odyssey Neo G9, but we expect the worst, above $2,499 from the previous model. In return you get one of the most spectacular monitors on the market.
