The final requirements of Silent Hill 2 Remake are quite high, something that is basically understandable to me since it is a game that uses Unreal Engine 5a graphics engine that was the flagship of the new generation, and that is quite demanding at the hardware level.
Blobber Team, responsible for the development of Silent Hill 2 Remake (Konami will be the publisher), have confirmed that we will need a fairly powerful PC to be able to play it in acceptable conditions, and that if we want to reach the optimal level we will need a high-end PC. He has also shared an estimate of the performance we can expect with each configuration.
As always, I am not only going to share with you the list of Silent Hill 2 Remake requirements, but I am also going to analyze the possible equivalence errors and performance estimates. I look forward to testing it as well when it hits the market, and I’ll share my findings with you in a special article.
Silent Hill 2 Remake Requirements
Minimum requirements
- Windows 10 64-bit as the operating system.
- Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X processor (six cores six threads or four cores eight threads). The equivalence is not entirely precise, the closest thing to the Ryzen 3 3300X would be an Intel Core i7 7700K.
- 12 GB of RAM.
- Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. The equivalence is well adjusted.
- DirectX 12.
- 50 GB of free space.
With this configuration we could play in 1080p and 30 FPS with medium low/medium quality, according to Blobber Team, and keep 30 FPS. VLooking at the level of the components, and taking into account that it is a game that will start from the PS5 base, I think it is likely that it will end up working much better if we meet this level of requirements, although in the end everything will depend on optimization.
recommended requirements
- Windows 11 64-bit as the operating system.
- Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X processor (six cores and twelve threads). The equivalence is correct.
- 16 GB of RAM.
- Radeon RX 6800 XT or GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card. The equivalence is not correct, the closest thing to the GeForce RTX 2080, which is the least powerful, would be a Radeon RX 6650 XT.
- DirectX 12.
- 50 GB of free space.
If we meet these requirements, Blobber Team recommends playing on 1080p on Medium for 60 FPS, or on High for a stable 30 FPS. I think there is too big a jump in the requirements and too small in graphic settings, which means that either there is an optimization problem or the requirements are inflated, although it may also be that the developers have been conservative and that we can actually play it without problems on higher configurations with this hardware, which seems most likely to me.
They have also confirmed that with this hardware it will be possible to play in 4K using DLSS or similar technologywhich suggests that in Silent Hill 2 Remake we could also find the AMD FSR 2 as an option to rescale and improve performance. This means that thanks to these technologies we will also be able to play better with the minimum requirements.
We don’t know the release date of this game yet, we only know that it will arrive sometime in 2023, although today it has just been confirmed that on a technical level it is finishedso its release could be “imminent”.
