A launcher dedicated to PlayStation games could soon see the light of day on PC. Several references to the project have indeed been discovered within the source code of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, available on Steam since last week. This also corroborates with recent rumors of the upcoming integration of PlayStation Network to PC ports.
When Sony enters the PC gaming market, it does not do it halfway. If the arrival last week of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on Steam and Epic Games Store caused a stir, the title is not the first to benefit from a port, since other big names in the PlayStation catalog, such as Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War were also ported. And everything suggests that the Japanese firm does not intend to stop there.
Besides the fact that several other ports are already planned in the coming months, including Uncharted: A Thieve’s Collection as well as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sony may well have big plans for its PC expansion. Indeed, in the source code of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered hide several references to a “PlayStation PC Launcher”, suggesting that the manufacturer plans to do without Steam and the Epic Games Store shortly.

However, this discovery corroborates with certain rumors which indicate that it would be necessary in the future to have a PlayStation Network account to play the excluded from the console on PC. None of the ports require an account at this time, but Sony doesn’t seem to completely rule out that possibility. We thus find in the code of Marvel’s Spider-Man mentions such as “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinkingEntitlements”.
Sony could therefore be more and more aggressive on the PC market. While Jim Ryan, the CEO of its entertainment division, said last year that ” a big number ” PC ports are in preparation, we already know that the brand plans to offer 50% of its catalog there by 2025. A PC launcher would then take on its full meaning, in the same way as the Rockstar or Blizzard launcher.
