Sony doesn’t like that PC games are cheaper

We all know that the PC gaming market is a little oasis in the middle of the battle between Sony and Microsoft on consoles, where things are not so friendly. For example, in prices, since the novelties have already made the leap to 80 euros of cost –in normal editions– thanks to the arrival of the new generation of machines, both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The exclusives on PC, a problem?

For a few years now, Sony has started a huge opening plan whereby many of its exclusive games on PlayStation have become available on PC, but of course, to make its way into that territory. have had to adopt the uses and customs of what a gamer for computer demand. And that includes paying somewhat less inflated prices for the novelties.

That to Sony, obviously, must have a bit of a fly because while in one store it is offering those same games at a standard PS5 price, in the other there is a cut of 10, 20 or more euros. It is true that in Spain that margin is very tight and it seems that there is not much of a journey to upload them unilaterally, out of the trend that Steam sets in some way, but that could change in the coming months.

There are signs that Sony wants its exclusive games to sell for a bit more on PC, and we just saw it just a few days ago when the Japanese announced widespread increases in some territories Spanish-speaking countries such as Mexico, Argentina, Chile or Colombia, but also in China, Canada, Japan and South Korea. In the case of Argentina, the increases have gone from 5,999 pesos (about 25 euros) to 9,999 (40 euros), which is a significant jump.

Will it also touch us in Spain?

In this case we find ourselves in the same way as in other circumstances in which a company begins to move through certain territories and As the months go by, it replicates similar measures in Spain. Of course, at the moment the price of the exclusives in our country seems quite adjusted and aligned with what Steam marks, which is the reference store, but that could change quickly.

So the best thing is to “put our beards to soak” and, if you are interested in getting any of the Sony exclusives for PC, do it ipso facto to the lowest offer that appears in the Valve store. It is not that in the interval in which we think about it the price goes up a few euros and it stops seeming interesting to us.

In any case, Sony should be warned that, no matter how strong its exclusives are on PlayStation and absolute power in its ecosystem, surely the PC market is not so tame and the players could revolt against a measure that, at least in the compatible market, does not seem to be on the table or in the minds of those who run the main sales platform.
