Startup Acceleration Program: open the term to choose accelerators

The School of Industrial Organization, within the framework of the EOI Foundation, attached to the General Secretariat of Industry and SMEs, has recently opened the tender to choose those accelerators that will support 6,100 entrepreneurs inside of the Startup Acceleration Program.

This initiative is intended to promote both the growth and development of emerging companies and will be carried out through individualized advice and through specific training with a personalized acceleration plan. The management of these grants adds a tender amount of 40.4 million euros, which are intended to support entrepreneurship in Spain. The estimated value of the contract is 33,373,588 euros, with an execution period of 12 months.

The individualized advice service and specific training for the beneficiaries will be carried out by collaborating entities, made up of accelerators and incubators with experience in sector acceleration, subject to the open tender and which will be selected through a competitive bidding procedure.

Once the tender has been resolved, the aids will be published each startup being able to freely choose the accelerator in which to develop its program, either in its own region or in the accelerators specialized by sectors.

The program has been designed thinking, in addition to helping startups that are preferably in their first steps of development, to promote the entrepreneurial ecosystem to contribute to the goal of turning Spain into an Entrepreneurial Nation. This implies supporting the startups present in the sectors committed to the business and innovative development of the country and also all the regional ecosystems that have been working on this objective for years.

The acceleration plan will consist of three phases: training program, acceleration program, and search for financing and connection with the business fabric.

Two types of actions will be implemented:

  • On the one hand, they will develop regional acceleration programs with the collaboration of the autonomous communities and adapted to startups in sectors defined in the regional smart specialization strategies.
  • And on the other, sectoral acceleration programs with national coverage focused on the ten tractor sectors marked by the Spain Entrepreneurial Nation Strategy: industry; cultural and music industries; mobility; Health; construction and materials; energy and ecological transition; banking and finances; digital and telecommunications; agrifood; and biotechnology.

Other EOI programs

This support program for entrepreneurs is added to those projects that EOI already has underway with financing from the PRTR. Within the same investment C13.I1«Entrepreneurship» EOI is developing the «Female Entrepreneurship Attraction Program»which aims to serve 833 European entrepreneurs, giving visibility to the Spanish entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In a complementary way, EOI is developing within the investment C13.I2. “Increase”program C13.I2.4 “Activate Startups”which aims to promote open innovation among SMEs and startups with grants of up to 40,000 euros per innovative project. So far, the first calls have been published in the Basque Country, Murcia, La Rioja, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura, prioritizing aid based on the specialization strategy of each autonomous community.

The program is aligned with the strategic policy framework for SMEs 2030, the Spain Digital Agency 2025, and is part of “Spain Entrepreneurial Nation”, the long-term vision promoted by the Government to turn Spain into a reference country in innovative entrepreneurship in the year 2030.
