While Tesla has recently applied massive reductions on its electric cars in recent weeks, which has led to a drastic increase in demand, the American automaker does not intend to stop there.

In a letter to shareholders issued today, following the release of fourth quarter 2022 results, Tesla has hinted that price cuts will continue into 2023, as the company faces major macroeconomic changes.

Teslas will see their prices go down

As we approach 2023, we know there are questions about the near-term impact of an uncertain macroeconomic environment, and in particular rising interest rates. The Tesla team is used to challenges, given the culture needed to get the company to where it is today. In the near term, we are accelerating our cost reduction roadmap and moving towards higher production rates, while remaining focused on executing the next phase of our roadmap. “, details Tesla in its press release.

Due to rising interest rates, vehicle financing becomes a problem for households, and Tesla is therefore forced to reduce its prices if it wants to achieve its sales objectives. In the coming months, Tesla should therefore improve its production rate, which will allow it to lower prices.

It is therefore expected that new reductions in production costs will soon be passed on to vehicle prices. Now that two Tesla models are eligible for the ecological bonus in France, the Model 3 and Y in Propulsion versions, it is not impossible that other configurations will also see their prices drop significantly thanks to state aid. It remains to be seen if more car manufacturers will also lower their prices, but we imagine that they will have to align themselves with their competitor to remain competitive.
