the apps are fake and they will steal you

It had been a long time since something revolutionized the Internet as it has ChatGPT. This is one of the first Artificial Intelligences that have arrived publicly, an intelligent system capable of answering any question that we ask it, or of carrying out any task (such as generating code, for example). Due to the success of this tool, all kinds of scams have soon appeared that seek to take advantage of its success to make their own. And the latest ones directly affect Android and iOS smartphones.

It is true that ChatGPT can be useful at any time, which is why many have sought a way to always carry it with them on their mobile devices. This platform has not been created to function as an app (unlike the personal assistants that were so fashionable a few years ago), but rather it is designed to be used from the browser. In this way, we can use ChatGPT from the PC, Android, iOS, or any device using simply Google Chrome, Edge, Safari, or whatever browser.

But people are used to installing dozens of apps on mobile phones, apps that are not even used later, but they are there. And if ChatGPT has attracted attention, they have looked for a way to always carry it as an app. And this is where the problems have started to appear.

Play Store and App Store are filled with fake apps

The first thing that must be clear to us is that there is no official ChatGPT app for Android, iOS or any other operating system. And probably never will be. This AI is designed to be used from the browser, so it is not necessary nor would it contribute anything to users.

But a quick search in the Play Store, or the App Store, shows us a large number of applications to use this AI. And almost all, with cheating. If we take any app at random we will find that these applications they are full of adscollect user data, and even have in-app purchases or subscriptions that can be expensive for us.

Fake Subscription AI ChatGPT

It is true that ChatGPT is a free tool with a subscription plan that gives us greater speed and priority access. But, if we pay in these apps, we are not paying for the OpenAI subscription, but we are giving it to the scammer responsible for the application in question.

Furthermore, these applications are not ChatGPT as such, but use the GPT-3 API to create a kind of semi-intelligent chat, but light years away from what the original offers us. And not only that, but, as specified by the permissions of these apps, they collect all kinds of user information, such as location, IP, and even financial data. Many apps even use contact emails that don’t exist, so the intention of their developers is clear.

ChatGPT is free, don’t be fooled

This AI can be used completely free of charge. It is true that it has a payment method, of 20 dollars a month, which gives us priority access when the servers are full and faster responses, but for the rest, we can make use of this AI completely free and unlimited.

Any application or tool that asks us to pay, a one-time payment or a subscription, to use it is a scam. The same as all those apps that have ads or collect user data.
