The Honor X6 arrives in France to face Xiaomi’s Redmi range

Honor announces the arrival in France of the X6, a very affordable smartphone. Developed to compete with Xiaomi’s Redmi, it will be sold below 180 euros. Its main argument is its 5000 mAh battery. Even if the technical sheet seems skimpy, the X6 seems to integrate everything you need for a complete experience at a lower cost. Presentations.

For 15 months, Honor, a now independent brand from Huawei, has been working hard to his big comeback in the front of the scene. Among its recent feats of arms, we can cite the very good Magic4 Pro, one of the best quality-price ratios on the high end, and the Honor 70, a very good model in the segment between 500 and 600 euros. A segment where the brand accomplished wonders when it arrived in France a little less than 10 years ago.

With a big half-dozen products in the catalog, Honor covers practically all market segments. Top of the range with the Magic range. And the more affordable segments with the X range. The brand had launched three so far: the X8, the X8 5G and the X7. Here is the X6, formalized in China in September and arrived this week in France. It is, at the time of writing, the cheapest smartphone in the brand’s catalog. It is indeed proposed to 179 euroswith a pre-order offer that puts the phone under the 170 euro mark.

The Honor X6 promises gigantic autonomy

The data sheet of the smartphone is not “prestigious”. But she wants to be balanced. The goal is obviously to present a copy capable of measuring up to that of Xiaomi’s Redmi, which are the master standard for segments positioned below the 200 euro mark. The most important argument of the Honor X6 is its battery of 5000mAh, promise of several days of autonomy on a single charge. Honor notably promises 31 hours of music listening, 17 hours of streaming or even 18 hours of Internet browsing.

In this technical sheet, we also find the small technical touches typical of the entry-level segment. A 3.5mm jack port to connect headphones. And one slot for a memory card in microSD format (up to an additional 1 TB). This will be very useful to compensate for the narrowness of the internal storage limited to 64 GB. Since the X6 promises a complete experience, you will of course find a fingerprint reader and an NFC sensor for contactless payments.

The strengths of the entry-level, but also the faults

We also find the typical faults of the segment: a low-power, but low-power SoC (a Helio G25 from MediaTek), a limited amount of RAM (4GB), an unattractive photo triptych (with a sensor 50MP which seems correct and two 2MP sensors, for calculating depths and macros), a sensor 5MP selfie not very pleasant, not very advanced wireless connections (Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi ac dual band), an OS not quite up to date (Android 12) and a 720p IPS display, which here measures 6.5 inches. So here is a technical sheet without surprises, but without major omissions. The phone will be available on October 24, 2022.
