The Dragon House topped the list of most pirated series of 2022 on torrent networksaccording to the list compiled by TorrentFreak.
There have been no surprises… Disney+ had the dubious honor of leading the statistic for the past two years with The Mandalorian Y WandaVisionbut this year the waters have returned to normal and HBO recovers the first position after “sweeping” these lists for many years (without intending to) thanks to the success of Game of Thrones.
It should be noted that the TorrentFreak data only includes statistics from public BitTorrent trackers, so the list may fall short of the reality of media piracy. Furthermore, the data excludes platforms like Usenet and countries like China that have the highest level of piracy, so the total volume of pirated content would be much higher.
According to traffic data from previous seasons collected by the specialized piracy surveillance company, MUSO, torrent downloads only constitute a small fraction of the total, over ten percent. And it is that most of the pirate traffic is generated by unauthorized streaming services.

The list sounds quite real, although as we said what moves in torrent networks today is a minimal part of the total pirated content. One of the few “surprises” is that the top-10 is occupied by newly created series in 2022 and not by the most common ones that repeated positions year after year.
As for the positions, it was clear that the Game of Thrones prequel would top the list and a long way behind the second, another blockbuster in this case from Amazon Prime, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, with which it has competed in the premieres of new series in all areas, including the most pirated. And it is certain that the second seasons will head these lists again unless a bombshell comes out of there.
End by confirming that subscription services that deliver content on demand are here to stay, are being a great success and have been able to reduce the global level of piracy. The problem is that they have increased so much and that the material is so fragmented that it is impossible for a consumer be able to pay for all, even if you like some of its content. And we’re only talking about video… Add music (Spotify…), software (Microsoft 365, Adobe Cloud…) or everything that comes from video games.
