94.5% of the population between the ages of 16 and 74 have used the Internet in the last three months and almost 80% have done so to interact with the electronic administration in Spain. In the last year, the interaction of citizens with public administrations and services has increased.
Almost 8 out of 10 people between the ages of 16 and 74 have contacted or interacted with public administrations through the Internet in the last twelve months, which represents an increase of eleven points compared to last year. At least that’s how it emerges from the latest data published by the INE (National Institute of Statistics) which confirms the increase in the use of electronic administration in the last year.
In 63.5% of cases, downloading or printing an official form have been the most frequent procedures
The most frequent procedures they have carried out have been, in 63.5% of cases, downloading or printing an official form, followed, in 54.3% of cases, by making an appointment or carrying out a booking. Likewise, access to information on the users themselves by authorities or public services has also been one of the most frequently performed procedures, in 44.8% of cases.
However, 6.7% of users state that they have not requested any official document or claim online with the administration or public services in the last year. In fact, 59.2% point out that another person has done it on their behalf.
However, one of the barriers that users report is that, according to 60.9%, they have had some problem in the use of electronic administration. In this sense, 43.1% indicate that they have had technical problems when using a website, while 39.1% point out difficulties in its use, and 24.1% highlight the experience of problems in use. of the electronic signature.
Use of electronic administration by communities
By autonomous communities, the ones that have most interacted with the electronic administration with the population groups between 16 and 74 years old, have been the Foral Community of Navarra, 83.8%; Catalonia, with 82.8%; and the Community of Madrid, with 82.5%.
However, as far as the average number of contacts is concerned, it has been the Community of Madrid that has led it with 3.4 contacts per inhabitant. It was followed by Catalonia, with 3.3 contacts per inhabitant; and the Foral Community of Navarra and the Valencian Community, both with 3.1 contacts per inhabitant.
The proliferation of households with internet access has had a lot to do with this evolution. According to the latest data from the INE, 16.3 million Spanish households with at least one member between the ages of 16 and 74, that is, 96.1% have fixed or mobile broadband Internet access. A percentage that last year was 95.9%.
In fact, 94.5% have used the Internet in the last three months, which helps to become familiar with the Internet to carry out different procedures, including administration.
