This Smart TV hides a PC and on top of that, does it work wirelessly?

The term Wireless is not a temporary fad, but a trend based on reducing the number of cables around us. Today we have the possibility of buying peripherals that do not require cables to connect. We have examples of mice, keyboards, headphones, remote controls and even printers that communicate by radio waves. At the same time, we are already beginning to see the first Wireless Smart TV. However, the one we bring you today has something that sets it apart from the others.

Due to the existence of the USB-C Alt DP cable, we believe that monitors, not TVs, are going to reduce the number of cables they use. However, this is not the case for televisions since they do not use the VESA DisplayPort standard. So this TV to reduce the amount of cables uses another method.

DisplacedTV, a PC-based wireless Smart TV

The model will come hand in hand with the American brand Displace and it is a television model with a 55-inch diagonal and 4K resolution. As a curiosity, its internal circuitry is based on a AMD processor and an NVIDIA graphics card. Therefore, said wireless Smart TV uses PC hardware and not mobile phone hardware, as is usual in that market. The reason why such hardware is necessary? Well, don’t expect it to have the capacity of a PC for games, since it’s only 3 centimeters thick.

So expect a modest CPU and GPU. Rather, computer hardware is to support a series of functions based on natural interfaces. which use a built-in camera and microphone to interpret hand gestures and voice commands to be able to control the television. Which is not a novelty, in any case, the manufacturer warns that it is possible to deactivate it for privacy reasons and use the classic remote control to control it.

At the moment we do not know its price and release date, but it will debut at CES on January 3. Its launch in Europe? We do not know at the moment, since its manufacturer is an American start-up company.

Displaced Smart TV without cables

How do you get it?

But how can it work without connecting to the electrical network? Well, simple, through four rechargeable batteries that are integrated into the television. Which, according to the manufacturer, They can last for a month with a continuous daily use of 6 hours. So obviously they must be recharged to be used. However, the manufacturer has not reported whether it will use a fast-charging USB-C port for it.

Another capability is the fact that since you won’t have frames, 4 of them can be combined in a 2 x 2 configuration to create a 110-inch mural in which four televisions are synchronized to show a single common image at 8K resolution.

In any case, the term Smart TV without cables is quite contradictory, since connecting a video game console to it or any other device already means the use of cables. We also have to take into account that given such a size it does not seem very portable to say. You, what do you think? Does a SmartTV of this type make sense or, on the contrary, has the obsession to eliminate them reached the point of absurdity in certain cases?
