If you use Tinder, the app will surely ask you to take a video of yourself in the coming days. This is indeed the new method of verification of the latter, which avoids the multiplication of false profiles. Until now, it was enough to take a selfie to pass this step.
It’s no secret that fake profiles abound on dating apps. The latter regularly try to lure their victims into various scams, sometimes making it difficult to navigate some of them. In recent years, most have asked users to verify their profile with a selfie, which is then compared with the photos published to ensure that they are not lying about their identity.
This Wednesday, April 26, Tinder, the spearhead of this sector, has decided to take things a step further. Indeed, the application has announced the implementation of a new profile verification measure, which this time involves video. The principle remains the same: users will be asked to take a video, which will then be analyzed by the application to estimate whether or not it corresponds to the photos on their profile.

Tinder will use video to verify the identity of its users
With this system, Tinder hopes to increase the security of its application. It will indeed be more difficult to deceive the latter with a video than with a photo. What’s more, Tinder plans to offer more tools to its users to protect themselves. Thus, it is now possible to ask your match to carry out the verification by video, to make sure you are talking to the person present on the profile.

In the same way, it is possible to configure the application so as to only come across verified profiles, thus eliminating any risk of deception. Paying members can filter their like according to the same criteria. However, be careful not to leave it empty: according to Tinder, only 40% of users use a verified account.
