Tokyo Vice: Everything we know about the series

about the series

Tokyo Vice is a crime drama based on the book of the same name by American investigative journalist Jake Adelstein. Both the book and the series tell precisely this story, about how Adelstein went to Japan in the 1990s with the intention of becoming, in fact, a criminal journalist and, for that, he had to infiltrate the bowels of the Yakuza.

In the series, Adelstein is played by Ansel Elgort. The plot was filmed in the Japanese capital itself, “where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem to be” – at least in the narrative description.

Alongside Elgort is the talented Ken Watanabe, a Japanese actor recognized mainly for his work in The Last Samurai, when he was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe award in 2004, in the category of Best Supporting Actor. He was also the one who gave life to Detective Yoshida in the long-running Pokémon franchise, Detective Pikachu.

Tokyo Vice season 1 premiere date

The first season of Tokyo Vice took place on April 7, 2022. In all, the series has eight episodes and a second season confirmed by HBO, but still no concrete premiere date, since recording has not yet started.
