Filming of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever started in Atlanta. This was communicated by the president of the Marvel Studios Kevin Feige during the promotional tour of Black Widow.
The film will have a plot centered on the kingdom of Wakanda rather than on a main protagonist, a change of course decided by Feige not to replace the late Chadwick Boseman, who passed away last year.
Filming started for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
For a while it wasn’t clear how i Marvel Studios they would continue the franchise of Black Panther without its main character. Among the possible options was the recasting of T’Challa, a choice not taken by Feige and his team, preferring to remove the character brilliantly portrayed by Boseman.
Plot specifics are still scarce at the moment, but some cast members have teased what to expect from the story written by too Ryan Coogler. Martin Freeman had hinted at odd parts of the script compared to everything else, while Lupita Nyong’o had revealed that the story had undergone various changes to pay homage to Boseman.
During the tour for the release of Black Widow Feige, interviewed by Variety, revealed that the cameras have started shooting Wakanda Forever, promising to make Boseman proud for the job done. Here’s what the president of Marvel Studios said:
The production without Chad is emotionally strong. But everyone is very excited to bring audiences and fans back to the kingdom of Wakanda. We will do it in a way that will pay tribute to Chad.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever it will be released in July 2022, giving Coogler and his team plenty of time to complete the main shoot, with enough time left for post production. Despite the start of filming, let’s not expect material from the film anytime soon, as Marvel Studios will be busy promoting the 4 films coming out this year and two more films before the arrival of Wakanda Forever.
