What do the new promotional posters of The Lord of the Rings mean

The history of the rings in the books

In case you have not read the books, we put you in the background of the history of the rings, with the epigraph that explains the main thing and was commented on in the movies.

The verses go like this:

“Three rings for the elven kings under heaven,
Seven to the Dwarf Lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for the mortal men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all and bind them in the dark
In the Land of Mordor, where the Shadows lie.”

In total, twenty forged rings, counting the One Ring that rules them all and is the main protagonist of the books and movies.

And it seems, the series is going to focus a lot on the rings and probably the ruin they brought to most of their bearers.

The Lord of the Rings series posters and their possible meanings

Amazon has revealed nothing less than 23 different posters that focus, as we have said, on the hands of the characters. It seems then that the series is going to be quite ambitious and choral.

In these images we do not know, nor are there clues, who these characters are. But the lucubrations are underway, especially when it comes to hands showing rings. Because of the others, it is impossible to know practically anything.

But as for the ring bearers, we can see.

A possible dwarf king of the seven who received rings forged by Celebrimbor, the mighty blacksmith, with the help or supervision of the wicked Sauron.

A ring of the dwarves

Another ring on a hand that bears a sword, the hilt of which is carved with a tower and possibly is a human king. Some think it’s Elendil, which comes out at the beginning of the film the Fellowship of the Ring, in the war against Sauron.

Possibly Elendil's Ring

Another ring bearer wears a rope end of what looks like a boat. No one knows who he is, although it is speculated who is the elf Círdan, shipwright and who possessed the Narya ring. But come on, nothing is clear again.

The Narya ring, or perhaps any other

A woman carrying a white flowerHe also wears a ring on his fingers. Any speculation is as good as another, because it is one of the most cryptic images and it is not even clear that it is a power ring.

another unknown ring

Another male character is loaded with rings and with golden and noble clothes. Probably a king and, in the forums and corners of virtual Middle-earth it is speculated with Ar-Pharazôn, the last regent of Númenór, as he was nicknamed The Golden.

The Ring of the King of Numenor

A male warrior carries a sword with a sun on the hilt, a motif that is repeated on the blade and armor. He also wears a ring and no one knows who he is. The bets are in favor of Anarion, one of the sons of the already named Elendil.

The possible ring of Anarion

With noble clothes we see another male character who also carries the symbols of the sun and ¿may be related to above? If among those rings is one of the power rings, your speculations are as good as mine (which are inclined to not be rings of this type).

More unknown rings

In the rest of the hands, there is everything. Humble hands that carry acorns, cleaner hands that carry scrolls, hands that wield weapons, that carry ropes and tools.

Highlight two, one with a weapon with the symbol of the horse, which illustrates the article at the beginning and may lead one to think that it is from Rohan, but this does not yet exist at the time of the series.

And of course, Sauron’s black armored gloved hand. Because that has to be Sauron.

Sauron and his gloved hand

But removing this last character, the others, still they don’t know each other and we have no real idea who they are. It is to be hoped that Amazon’s promotional campaign will reveal them little by little. And here we will be to elucidate more things together with the Internet media. After all, that’s a big part of grace.
