What requirements must a PC meet to move Windows 11 well

The minimum requirements of Windows 11 are very clear, but many still have doubts about what do they really need to be able to move said operating system well. Is it enough to meet the minimum requirements or is it essential to have a much more powerful computer? The answer is yes, a much more powerful team is needed.

Microsoft says that to run Windows 11 we need:

  • A 1GHz 64-bit dual-core CPU that is included in the list of supported CPUs.
  • 4 GB of RAM.
  • A storage unit with at least 64 GB capacity.
  • A DirectX 12 compatible GPU.
  • Screen with 720p resolution.
  • TPM 2.0 chip or equivalent (fTPM or PTT).

A PC configured with a Core i5 2500 does not meet the first requirement, since despite having four cores and being 64-bit it is not on the list of supported CPUs. We will need at least one Ryzen based on Zen+ or a Core Gen8and ideally it should have at least two cores and four threads.

Having 4 GB of RAM is the minimum for the operating system to boot and not cause serious performance or stability problems, but the experience will not be good. Just by starting the PC the memory consumption will already be almost 4 GB, so The minimum to ensure a good experience will be 8 GB of RAM.

Microsoft does not require a high-capacity storage drive, nor does it require an SSD, but to avoid space issues in the short to medium term, to reduce boot and shutdown times, and to improve Windows 11 responsiveness, the ideal is have an SSD drive that has at least 256 GB capacity.

If your team does not meet those “recommended” requirements that we have just seen It would not be a good idea to upgrade your PC to Windows 11because even if you meet the minimum requirements and this ensures you receive official support, the experience will not be good.
