Will the OnePlus 11 do without the Pro model in 2023?

OnePlus’ next phone should be called the OnePlus 11. A data that might seem trivial, but not that much. The year 2022 was marked by the absence of a OnePlus 10 model, which had given way to a OnePlus 10 Pro and a OnePlus 10T.

OnePlus is well on its way to becoming the most difficult brand to follow in terms of smartphone naming. The next model, which is believed to be the OnePlus 11 Pro, would simply be named OnePlus 11. It is Max Jambor, always well informed, who tells us the wick: there would only be a OnePlus 11 in the first quarter of 2023, no Pro:

“The next model of OnePlus Pro is named OnePlus 11.”

It seems anecdotal like that, but it translates some confusion at the manufacturer in terms of naming.

Does OnePlus no longer know on which foot to dance?

Traditionally, OnePlus releases three high-end phones in the year. We have the classic model and the Pro model, unveiled at the same time, then a few months later the T model, which wants to combine the best of both. The fact is that the last time this scheme was applied was in 2020 with Generation 8. In 2021, OnePlus only released the 9 and 9 Pro, skipping the 9T. For this generation 10, it’s even more confusing.

We only had the right to a OnePlus 10 Pro model, no 10 model. Why not just name it OnePlus 10? Mystery. Later, the brand released a 10T model, which took up the main lines of this Pro. In short, there is something to get lost in!

The year 2023 should be similar in terms of release, initially with a single model… which would not carry the Pro denomination. Jambor specifies that it should benefit from an ultra high-end technical sheet, like a Pro does, but without the name that goes with it. A single product should see the light of day initially (first quarter of 2023). Anyway, we will follow with great interest the news around this new product. We hope for a good phone, of course, but also a very convincing photophone. The brand has made a lot of effort since generation 9, but there is still work to be done to get close to Samsung, Apple and Google in this area. Perhaps this OnePlus 11 will surprise us?
