Microsoft regularly releases new preview builds of Windows 11 for members of the Insider Program. Via these builds, the manufacturer is trying somehow to improve the user experience of its latest OS.

And precisely, the Redmond firm has just published a new version on the Dev channel numbered 22207.1401.X. This build brings two notable changes: screenshots in Microsoft Store search results and fixed a major issue with installing games.

Regarding the first point, it is now possible show screenshots in Microsoft Store search results, the aim being to improve the browsing experience. Convenient, for example, to see what a game really looks like if you do not have absolute confidence in the screenshots provided by the publisher or the studio. Note that the Microsoft Store will only show the 1st screenshot, and there is no option to open a listing first.

No longer need the Xbox app to install a game on Windows 11

As for the second point, Microsoft has finally decided to solve one of the main problems encountered by players who are used to buying games through the Microsoft Store. Indeed, on the stable version of the OS, it is still necessary to go through the Xbox app to install a game purchased from the official OS store.

On this build, Microsoft fixed the problem by allowing users to install PC games directly from the Microsoft Store. We therefore eliminate an intermediate step, namely going through the Xbox App, and we simplify the installation process in passing. As a reminder, Microsoft recently announced that it has fixed a bug that prevented the Microsoft Store from managing more than 2000 reviews on an application, software or game.

This issue has been resolved via an update released on August 9, 2022, with the counter now showing the actual number of reviews posted. It was obviously an old technical limitation that prevented the display of more than 2000 reviewsas explained by Rudy Huyn, principal architect of the Microsoft Store.
