The S22 Ultra arrives. It is even the first smartphone of the new Galaxy S range to be marketed, even before the standard bearer that is the classic S22. If its large screen and its photo performance clearly give it a head start over its two younger siblings, it is above all by its S Pen that can be accommodated in the smartphone that the smartphone stands out. In doing so, Samsung bids farewell to the Galaxy Note.
If Samsung was hardly verbose on the subject in the early days, the manufacturer no longer hides it today: the Galaxy Note range no longer exists, it’s official. Large smartphones with their famous stylus have bowed out. But the South Korean manufacturer has not said its last word. Samsung continues has found a way to continue to market a smartphone that offers a slot to store a stylus. This smartphone is the new Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The S22 range unveiled by Samsung breaks down like every year into three models (pending the FE): there is the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S22+ and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. And it is the latter that will interest us here. As every year, the smartphone wants to be the most complete and expensive model of the new range. And if the previous iterations were already compatible with the S-Pen, this time the small accessory can be stored directly in the phone.
With the S22 Ultra, Samsung draws a line under the Galaxy Note range
If the S22 and S22+ both have a design similar to that of the models released in 2021, the S22 Ultra denotes : its many back sensors are not housed in a rectangular block. Samsung wanted to clearly differentiate its S22 Ultra from the rest of the range. Not only because its price is very high (“stratospheric” some will probably say), but also because its use is no longer the same. The device, which offers the best from Samsung in terms of photophone, is also a device to “work”.
Enough to totally eclipse the Galaxy Note, which no longer represents any interest today. Launched in 2011, the Galaxy Note range therefore bows out. A page turns, therefore. Galaxy Note fans And it’s finally quite logical, since the S Ultra combined all the advantages of the Note, with the exception of the location for storing the stylus. It is now done. Remember that the previous iterations of the S Ultra were already compatible with the S Pen, but nothing was planned to accommodate them in the device.
TM Roh, president and head of MX Business at Samsung, explains the integration of Note tools within the S22 Ultra: “The Galaxy Note series is one of our most beloved products, thanks to an incredibly loyal customer base. These fans appreciate the power, performance and productivity that the Notes offer. We listened carefully, and we know they want it all. They are multitaskers and do everything on their mobile devices, from working to sharing their day with their collaborators. That’s why we’re bringing the most loved Note features to more device categories, including the S Series, tablets, Z Fold, Galaxy Book and beyond. This allows everyone to get the most out of their mobile experience and marks the next chapter in the Note legacy.”
With his 6.8″ screen and its WQHD+ (3200 x 1400) display size, S Pen and 5000mAh battery, the S22 Ultra is therefore the ideal smartphone for working, taking notes, making small sketches, etc. Of course, it will also appeal to those who want to play in perfect conditions on their smartphone or watch their series on a mobile “big screen”.
The S22 Ultra of the range has pointed the tip of its nose. It can already be pre-ordered on the Samsung site or from the operators. The smartphone will be available from February 25, 2022. Samsung does not do half measures in terms of prices, since the S22 is displayed at 1259 € in its edition with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, to reach 1659 € in the 12 GB / 1 TB edition. At this price, the S22 Ultra Le S Pen comes with the smartphone, fortunately.
