The GeForce RTX 4050 will be a mid-range graphics card that will hit the market as a “economic” option within the new generation of NVIDIA, in quotes because its retail price has not been confirmed yet, and because it could end up being more expensive than the GeForce RTX 3050 at launch.
In previous leaks we saw that the GeForce RTX 4050 specs could be very similar to the GeForce RTX 3060, but a new round of rumors has completely changed them and points to a much more modest setupand more along the lines of what we’ve seen recently with the launch of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti.
I put that context because it is evident that if the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti has reached the market with 7,680 shaders it makes no sense to think that the GeForce RTX 4050 is going to have 3,840 shaders, since it is too high a figure that leaves little room for the GeForce RTX 4060 and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The possible specifications of the GeForce RTX 4050 have been such that after applying the keys that these new rumors have left us:
- AD106 graphics core in 5nm from TSMC.
- 2,560 shaders.
- GPU at 2,505 MHz-2,640 MHz, normal and turbo mode.
- 80 texturing units.
- 80 tensor cores.
- 32 raster units.
- 20 RT cores.
- 128-bit bus.
- 8 GB of 18 GHz GDDR6 graphics memory (288 GB/s bandwidth).
- 13.51 TFLOPs of power in FP32.
- TGP: 150 watts. You will need an 8-pin power connector.
Possible performance and release date of the GeForce RTX 4050
If those specs are finally confirmed, the GeForce RTX 4050 will most likely offer performance similar to that of a GeForce RTX 3060although it will have two important advantages over this, lower consumption and support for frame generation under DLSS 3, a latest technology that can greatly improve performance in games, since it creates an additional frame independent of the CPU for each two traditionally generated frames.
Typically NVIDIA XX50 series models They are usually the last to arrive.and we don’t think this will change with the GeForce RTX 4050. With that in mind, and seeing as how the GeForce RTX 4070, GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, and GeForce RTX 4060 haven’t been released yet, I think it’s most likely that that not arrive until the second half of 2023. The price is still up in the air, but I would bet between 300 and 400 euros.
