Synology has officially announced the launch of its new router WRX560, which has arrived to reinforce its line of solutions with Wi-Fi 6 and with the purpose of providing a fast and secure connection to homes with more activity through the network. Thanks to the Synology Router Manager (SRM) operating system and compatible hardware, it is able to successfully fulfill its role even in the most demanding situations.
Synology’s WRX560 router incorporates powerful internal components that ensure optimal performance for both home and networking enthusiasts. Supports up to 150 devices connected simultaneously, includes Wi-Fi 6 and offers high speeds to reach a combined throughput of 3,000Mbps, thus providing snappy downloads and buffer-free streaming. All this is possible thanks to your 1.4GHz processor and 512MB of RAM.
Compared to other router models, the WRX560 stands out for its 2.5 GbE configurable WAN/LAN port that supports high performance devices or extremely fast internet plans. Besides, his compatibility with the new 5.9GHz spectrum provides access to an interference-free band for higher connection speeds or Dedicated Wireless Backhaul.
The functions built into the WRX560 take care of improving wireless connections by providing a fast and stable connection. The device can incorporate a mesh configuration with other Synology routers for uniform high-speed coverage with a single Wi-Fi name. Another possibility it offers is to use it as an additional Wi-Fi point. On the other hand, DS router mobile app provides a wide range of features, including router configuration, traffic monitoring, parental controls, guest network creation, and network management.
Thanks to parental controls and Internet filtering capabilities via Safe Access packet, the WRX560 is responsible for ensuring home cybersecurity. Parents can limit their children’s screen time by setting Internet usage quotas or restricting access to certain times of day for each device, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, and game consoles.
Web filtering through Safe Access, which also covers search results, is a highly recommended feature to prevent minors from accessing content that is not intended or that may be potentially harmful to them. The same tool is responsible for providing information based on the monitoring of the activities of the little ones online, such as the daily amount of time spent on the Internet or if they tried to visit inappropriate websites.
We cannot leave aside the operating system used by the WRX560 router, SRM, which stands out for its advanced network capabilities to perform detailed configurations, detailed control of the bandwidth of the devices on the network, VLAN network segmentation and hosting of VPN servers.
SRM makes available VPN Plus, a tool for companies and users who telecommute It offers the ability to establish secure connections to internal networks, connect multiple locations using IPsec tunnels to share resources across different networks, and access desktop software from anywhere with remote desktop functionality.
Another feature of SRM is the traffic management to accurately control and monitor generated network traffic by users along with detailed application and device information. In addition, it allows to apply a specific configuration on a device and users can optimize their network according to their specific needs.
And finally we have the VLAN segmentation, a feature that allows users to create virtual local networks and define custom firewall rules, quality of service and access policies for each VLAN. Synology router WRX560 is available in Australia, Canada, Europe, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Taiwan, and the United States from November 2, 2022, and will be available in Japan starting tomorrow. It has a reference price of 209 euros and it is possible to buy it through the usual distributors.
In addition to products for home environments, Synology wants to expand its commitment to large companies during the next year 2023 with solutions that have the focus on them, fully entering fields such as the hybrid cloud.
