Xiaomi is said to be working on a foldable smartphone sold internationally and today the first information about it is leaking on the net. We thus have some characteristics, but also an interesting fact: the price targeted by the manufacturer.
Foldable smartphones represent a new Eldorado for manufacturers. Samsung, Motorola and Oppo have already fired the first cartridges, but there is one manufacturer that is highly anticipated in this segment : Xiaomi. The brand already presented a first model last year (the Mi Mix Fold), but it was only a technological showcase reserved for China. We are therefore still waiting for the “first” international terminal from him.
Today, the clues are falling when it comes to Xiaomi’s next foldable smartphone. These are leaks shared by famous leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo. It gives us details on the technical characteristics of the product, but also on its placement.
Xiaomi would bet on an affordable price for its smartphone
According to Digital Chat Station, the foldable Xiaomi would be equipped with a flexible screen (obviously) 120Hz refresh rate with Full HD+ resolution. No mention of a second screen, but the processor is mentioned. Unsurprisingly, it would be a Snadpragon 8 Gen 1, the most powerful SoC on the market today. The leaker also mentions the camera, or rather the presence of a 50 megapixel sensor (f / 1.5).

In addition to giving technical characteristics, Digital Chat Station gives some interesting details. The terminal would be considered large, but the emphasis would be on its featherweight as well as its finesse. Even more, he speaks of a smartphone “for women” without really developing. Can you imagine a flip phone like Samsung’s Z Flip?
Finally, the leaker claims that Xiaomi would aim for a more affordable price, more precisely a price set on the “normal” flagships of the market. It is true that today, the price is the main obstacle to the development of this format. At present, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is for example displayed at a price of 1699 euros at least.
Xiaomi is expected in this price segment for foldable smartphones. The brand could thus definitively launch the era of this new format with a fair price. Now it remains to be seen when this mysterious top of the range will be launched… if it will ever be launched.
